Zenpage exists because authors deserve better than what’s out there. A professional website shouldn’t cost you a monthly subscription or a weekend of frustration.
The Why
I read a lot. And at some point I started noticing something: most authors either have no website at all, or they have one that looks like it was built in 2011 and hasn’t been touched since.
The ones who do invest in a site are usually paying $12-40 a month for a generic website builder like Squarespace or Wix. Tools designed for restaurants, photographers, and e-commerce stores. Authors get shoehorned into templates that don’t understand what a book page should look like.
Then there’s the other end: free tools that are either plastered with ads, limited to the point of uselessness, or so technical you need a developer friend to set them up.
Authors shouldn’t have to choose between “expensive and overkill” or “free and embarrassing.”
So I built Zenpage. Not as a side project or a startup pitch, but because it felt like something that should exist and didn’t.
The Mission
It doesn’t matter if you’ve published twenty novels or you’re still working on your first. You should have a place online that’s yours. Not a social media profile you don’t control. Not a page on Amazon. A real website with your name on it.
Zenpage is free. Not “free trial,” not “freemium with the good stuff locked away.” Free. You sign up, you build your site, you publish it. That’s it.
Budget and technical skill shouldn’t be the things standing between an author and their audience. If you can write a book, you can build a site on Zenpage. About fifteen minutes, on your lunch break, no tutorials required.
What Makes Us Different
Zenpage isn’t a generic website builder with an “author template” bolted on. Every piece of it was designed with authors in mind.
We studied dozens of real author websites to figure out what works, what doesn’t, and what readers actually look for when they land on an author’s page. That research turned into templates that look polished from the first click, with dedicated book pages, ISBN import, an events page, a blog, and layouts that put your writing front and center.
There are no drag-and-drop rabbit holes. No plugin marketplace. No upsells nudging you toward a “Pro” plan. You won’t spend hours tweaking column widths or debugging spacing issues. You fill in your details, pick a style you like, and your site is ready.
